For the first time a previously unknown group of compositions by Bernardo Pasquini is here published which I discovered in a manuscript from the “Archivio Provinciale di Cristo Re” in Bologna.
The manuscript itself has come down in an incomplete state: the frontespiece and the final part are missing. It presents an initial series of fifteen versetti followed by an Introduzione and Pastorale in G Major, leading to the second series of forty-five versetti. Although the copy was made at a rather late date, several graphical aspects of the notation lead to the likely conclusion that the copier had transcribed these works by Pasquini from a manuscript, in all probability dating to the same period as the composer: the end of 1600 or the beginning of 1700.
