This fifth volume of music by Jewish composers. Louis Lewandowski was awarded the title “Königlicher Musikdirektor”. Following the consecration of the New Synagogue in Berlin’s Oranienburger Strasse in 1866, he was able to incorporate its great organ into his compositions. In addition to his extensive output of liturgical choral music with organ accompaniment, he composed solo works for organ, harmonium and piano. As in all the arrangements of the works in this series of editions, a separate pedal part has been added here. The original dynamic marks have been retained throughout. Experienced musicians will be able to translate these marks, which were adopted from the harmonium, accordingly on the organ and will find the use of a swell organ very helpful. Predominant use of foundation stops will make for a stylish performance.
