This volume presents a superb array of thirty-four pieces for use from Lent through to Pentecost, including preludes, toccatas, fanfares, and more. The pieces vary in length, suiting a range of purposes, from processionals and interludes to voluntaries and recital works. Covering the 17th to the 21st centuries, most are original organ pieces but there are also arrangements of arias and choruses from works such as Handel’s Messiah and J. S. Bach’s St Matthew Passion. Major historic organ composers are represented, including Scheidt, Mendelssohn, and Reger, alongside contemporary figures such as David Willcocks, Philip Moore, and Malcolm Riley.
